| Hello people!!!
Well yesterday was results day and my expectations were low. However, I did rather much better than expected. Chemistry I was sure would be a C at most, I was hoping for an A or a B in both biology and geography, the A in geog and the B in biol. And general studies, despite not caring about it, the AS was really easy and so i was expecting a good grade.
SO.....*drumroll* .......
A B B B
and the A was in biology.
I'm so pleased, not only does this mean that I get to go to uni, but they are also giving me £2000 for the privilage.
Huzzah.
In other news, Wacken was fantastic. My worries were unfounded, although the travelling still turned out to be a bit of a nightmare. Going out, our plane was delayed. At Hamburg airport Jonny realised he'd lost his phone. We then had to get a bus to the train station. (And then a simple train to Itzehoe...? NO) We then got on the train not having a clue where we were supposed to be going or getting off. Luckily a german lady was trying to help us and told us which stop to get off at. This stop turned out to be Hamburg central station. It took us ages to find the right train and figure out the ticket machine, for tickets we didn't end up needing. So we caught this train thinking that it would be the last. It was a good job there were german metalheadz on the train because when they got off we followed. We then had to wait at this small stop for about half an hour till the next train arrived. It was at this point that Jonny realised that he'd also lost his passport. We then finally got to Itzehoe and had to get a taxi from there to Wacken. There were seven other people that i was travelling with and so we had two taxis. The other taxi got stopped by the police because their driver was speeding and then got tested for drink and drugs. Quite a funny experience. We then got to the site, this was at about 1.30 in the morning, and had to set up our camp. Not the easiest thing in the dark and in hindsight, not the best place to camp either. Having done this, we went exploring, found the biergarten and went and got pissed. We went back to the site at about 4 and most of us went to bed. Chris, Jimmy and Jon, however, decided to go back out and drink. We were all awoken at 9 the next morning (8 english time) by them coming back extremely drunk and lairy.
That day we found the other people that we knew who were there. Jeff, Nath, Chris and Holty arrived. I was the most worried about the reception I was going to receive from Jeff and Nath due to past grievances and especially due to the look of complete disgust that Nath gave me when we drove past them on the way to the airport. But when I went up to their camp he was one of the first people to speak to me. And was ok with me, that was the most we spoke all weekend but I was glad he was mature enough to put everything behind him. Jeff, however, only spoke to me when I spoke to him and curtly at that. But he wasn't hostile and for that I was glad. I met a load of people that I hadn't met before, like the members of Bartlett's band (Irony of Christ). They were all really lovely and I spent that day and evening with Bartlett and his band.
The next day was when the music properly started. I didn't meet up with the boys that day and spent mine with Jayanne and the others from our camp. Had a good day, saw some ace bands. (Nevermore were great, so very good live. Opeth are good but quite boring live.)
Saturday for bands was absolutely awesome. EMPEROR and MORBID ANGEL, two of my favourite bands. And I got to see them. It was especially great to see Emperor as they have been disbanded for 6 years and they are doing a select few gigs this year. Morbid Angel were also fantastic live. As were Atheist, a band that I haven't heard much material of but who I enjoyed immensly. They'd been disbanded for 11 years and it was a bit of a reunion tour for them too. As well as Celtic Frost, original death metal who have been disbanded for years also, who played on the Friday. So it was a bit of a reunion Wacken. Saturday night was a bit stressful although hilarious before the stress. I was up at the other camp with the boys and Holty had decided to go to bed. As it was the last night and nothing had been done thus far, a fucking with Holty session was inevitable. The first game was fucking with holtys tent and waking him up. This went down well with us but not with him. We left him for five or ten minutes and then Nath went and peered in at him through the net doorway of his tent. During his leering, Nath received a punch square to the forehead which sent him reeling. Then later on again, Al went and stinkbombed him. This leads me on to my stress of the night. Going back to my campsite and everyone's going nuts as its the last night and everyone's seen Emperor. It all sounded lairy and there were things being broken and portaloos toppled etc. I got back to the campsite and Nath and Dan were chatting to Chris who was in his tent. So I asked where the hell Jimmy's tent was. And no one knew. Seemingly it had been dragged away including all contents: passport, 200 euros, cds and personal belongings. So I was scared that night, especially with us being so close to one of the main thoroughfairs through the campsite. Whilst trying to get to sleep I heard someone unzip the outer door of my tent. And got really scared. In the morning I found out that it had been Al and that he was going to stinkbomb me. He was called a little prick many times the next day for scaring me half to death.
There was an incident on one of the days where I'd just sparked up a jay and a group of drunken, singing germans wandered into our camp. We were making ready to leave to go somewhere and i clambered into my tent to get things, still with spliff in hand, and a german decided to climb into my tent with me and share my spliff. If this wasn't cheek enough, he farted on his way out!
On the last day Jeff also discovered the loss of his passport. So all three passportless people went to the police who gave them one-way temporary passports, which was nice. The journey back wasn't as gay as the journey there, but it was still a huge amount of hassle. I did meet some fun people at the airport. Kyle I knew through Nath and he'd met the people he was with on the way over. They were all really nice, wacky people. It's a shame I didn't get any of their numbers, they'd be fun to hang out with. And Russ was pretty hot.
If you've managed to get to the end of here then congratulations. I think this might be the longest post I've ever written. In summary - WACKEN WAS AMAZING AND IMMORTAL ARE PLAYING NEXT YEAR!!!!!! I'm so going.
